Most of the 90s kids’ first crushes was someone who roamed around the school with walkman and headphones. This was the coolest gadget to have. Back in the day it was still the cassettes and walkman, and you had to choose your choice of songs carefully. In fact, mix tape – custom made recording of songs – was one of the most precious gifts to give to a friend or a loved one. The fact that walkman was one of the first toys available to nineties kids that guaranteed exclusivity made it a coveted possession to have. You could sit in a group of people, just put your walkman on, and leave on your own journey of music, indifferent to everyone around you while they ogle you in admiration and envy. The bigger the headset, the higher the ‘cool factor’! Oh boy, those were the days!
